All CCHS freshmen take the PLAN Test (Pre-ACT) during the month of October at CCHS. The PLAN Test is a great way to prepare for the ACT, covering the same subjects and providing an estimated ACT score. As freshmen, students will be reminded to focus on their grades and to work on good study habits, to stay on track to earn the PROMISE scholarship. Even though college is four years away, students are reminded that their freshmen grades have a direct impact on the awarding of the PROMISE Scholarship during their senior year. To assist students in assessing their progress toward meeting the requirements for the PROMISE scholarship, the Guidance Office will monitor students’ core GPAs beginning their freshmen year. The Guidance Office also encourages students to get involved in Central’s student life by joining clubs and student organizations, as well as participating in community service opportunities to round out their high school resume. Plus it’s not too early to begin exploring colleges and universities as a freshman; the Guidance Office staff is always available to discuss career paths with students in all grade levels.
