Here are the requirements to qualify for West Virginia’s PROMISE Scholarship for the Class of 2017:
ACT: Must have a minimum composite score of 22 with a minimum subject score of 20 in each of the four areas: Math, English, Reading, and Science. YOU MAY TAKE UP TO THE JUNE 10, 2017 TEST TO QUALIFY FOR PROMISE.
SAT: Must have a minimum 1100 combination of Critical Reading and Math with a minimum 540 in Evidence Based Reading and Writing and 510 in Math. YOU MAY TAKE UP TO THE JUNE 3, 2017 TEST TO QUALIFY FOR PROMISE.
ACT or SAT scores cannot be combined from multiple test administrations. In addition, the ACT and/or SAT writing portion(s) will NOT be used in calculating minimum composite scores for the PROMISE Scholarship.
Grade Point Average Requirement: You must have a 3.0 cumulative overall grade point average and a 3.0 cumulative core GPA. (Note: “Overall” means all the classes you have taken since you enrolled in 9th grade, up to and including your senior year classes. The “core” means classes in these four disciplines: math, science, history, and English.) Cumulative overall and cumulative core GPAs are available in the Guidance Office. All seniors, juniors, and sophomores were given their overall and core GPAs in September. Also, all qualifying seniors will be taken to the computer lab and will be applying for the PROMISE scholarship in January.
