Service Groups
Nazareth Farm (Summer of 2012)
Seven students from Central along with Mrs. Amy Granato and Mr. Mike McDonald left on Sunday, May 27th to serve the poor by working at Nazareth Farm in Doddridge County, West Virginia. These students and teachers are they only high school group from the State of West Virginia that serves the poor through Nazareth Farm Ministries. All other high school groups come from outside of West Virginia.
Plans and fundraising is currently taking place to provide students with the opportunity to serve in the Summer of 2013.
Pontifical Crew
This group of young men at Central include all four classes of Freshman, Sophomores, Juniors, and Seniors. This group has the duty of providing for the Most Rev. Michael J. Bishop - the Bishop of the Diocese of Wheeling-Charleston.
The Pontifical Crew of Wheeling Central Catholic High School recently served Confirmation Mass for the Cathedral of St. Joseph Parish and Corpus Christi Parish. They also serve the Dioconate Ordination in May and will serve two more Masses over the summer: the Priest Ordination (Saturday, June 23rd at 11am) and the Italian Festival Mass (Sunday, July 29th, at 10:00aam). Everyone is welcome to attend these special Masses.
Students have served in the month of October (2012) with the Bishop for the Mass for the inaguation of the Year of Faith and the Mass for the dedication of the new altar in the Cathedral.
Server for Sisters of St. Joseph Spagetti Dinner - Sunday, Nov. 4th. (2012)
Each year students from Key Club and the school population in general help with the Sisters of St. Joseph Annual Spagetti dinner. This year over thirty students volunteered and funtioned in a variety of service to assist the Sisters.
Confirmation Retreat Team
Ten Seniors and one Sophomore assisted Mr. Smay in presenting a Confirmation Retreat for Corpus Christi and St. Vincent de Paul Parish on Friday, March 23rd at the Corpus Christi Parish Complex and in Garden Park.
