Students must be able to understand the world of software by learning to create in that world through the acquisition and application of basic programming knowledge and skills. This is fundamental for students interested in entry into any field of science, engineering, business, manufacturing or communication. Programming is a foundation process that incorporates both creative vision and problem solving. In addition, given the wide spread application of robotics in almost every area of science and commerce, students will be ahead of the curve in acquiring experience in creating programs that can control other machines – the basis of robotics. The Computer Science and Robotics Lab will help meet the needs of students that intend to enter fields of science, engineering, manufacturing or business. The lab will be equipped with computers and programming software that will enable them to learn multiple computer languages and develop basic application program elements. They will develop programs to control a robotic device that they will also construct.
