CCHS Senior Luke Tiu Named WVU Foundation Scholar

Wheeling Central Catholic High School is proud to celebrate senior Luke Tiu, who has been awarded the WVU Foundation Scholarship—the most prestigious academic scholarship in the state of West Virginia. Luke is one of only five students statewide to receive the honor this year, and the first CCHS student in over a decade to be named a Foundation Scholar.

A true example of excellence in and out of the classroom, Luke is the valedictorian of the Class of 2025, a state champion golfer, and the president of both the math and science honor societies. He is also a recipient of multiple service awards, a dedicated son, a loyal friend, and a leader within the school community.

“It’s an incredible honor, and I’m thankful and privileged,” Luke said. “I’m very grateful to my school, my parents, and everyone who has helped me get here. I plan to major in biology and minor in law and legal studies, with the goal of becoming a health policy lawyer. I also plan to stay involved in service at WVU, because I love giving back.”

The WVU Foundation Scholarship covers full tuition, fees, room and board, and textbooks. Luke plans to attend West Virginia University this fall, where he will continue his academic journey with the same drive and humility that has defined his time at Central.

“He has really challenged himself here at Central,” said Marla Blake, Director of Counseling. “Not only is he a top student, but he’s also active in extracurriculars, service, and leadership. If anyone deserves this recognition, it’s Luke.”

Luke is the son of Dr. Jeremy and Melissa Tiu. We are incredibly proud of all he has accomplished and look forward to all that lies ahead for him. Congratulations, Luke!
