Standardized Testing (ACT/SAT)
At Central Catholic High School, standardized testing is an important part of the college preparation journey. With nearly all CCHS graduates matriculating to four-year colleges and universities, we are committed to providing students with the tools, resources, and support they need to approach testing with confidence.
From the first PSAT in freshman year to ACT and SAT registration guidance, our college counseling team walks alongside students each step of the way. We offer access to national testing programs, score interpretation sessions, personalized prep tools, and structured timelines to help students maximize their potential. Our goal is not only to ensure college eligibility but to empower each student to pursue scholarships, honors programs, and competitive opportunities with confidence.

Juniors are encouraged to begin their SAT and ACT testing journey in late fall or early winter. Colleges accept both exams, and students are advised to try each, determine their stronger test, and focus on improving that score through retakes.
To register for the SAT or ACT, students must create an online account and register through the respective websites. Be sure to:

PSAT Testing and College Board Tools
All freshmen take the PSAT 8/9, and all sophomores and juniors take the PSAT/NMSQT during the school day each fall. This exam identifies academic strengths and areas for growth and provides valuable practice for the SAT.
Once scores are available, CCHS counselors provide interpretation and support. Students are also encouraged to access their full score report at studentscores.collegeboard.org, where they can link their College Board account with Khan Academy for free, personalized SAT practice.
The PSAT/NMSQT, taken in the junior year, also serves as the qualifying test for the National Merit Scholarship Program, which recognizes approximately 50,000 high-scoring students nationally each year and awards over $180 million in scholarships.
